Nas200 Problems

I have a Nas200 which was working fine for a while.
Then it suddenly stopped seeing Disk #2. It would recognize disk in bay 2 after every 3-4 restarts.
Anyway, I did a hard reset, thought that might help, but the unit does not seem to be resetting. Tried both hard and soft resets (by pushing a button on the back, waiting for two beeps and also by administration page). Tried resetting with disks in bays and without them, but still no luck. NAS200 does not reset any configurations (passwords,...

An amule guide? maybe :p - INTRO

My main goal is to have a “how to†on the amule configuration file, the tools we will use to manage this and some minor info about them and also a different way to alter the amule.conf file to our computer, some steps you should do to be able to share the downloads of amule within your ftp
and finally a brief explain of some of the lines in amule.conf file that I can understand and you will need to make it work normally.
Later I will alter the web...

Regenerating Keys for JAC4 on NAS200

Hi,

I've inherited a NAS200, and first thing I did was to flash the JAC4 firmware onto it.
However, it seemed to crash on first bootup after flashing it - I left it for a couple of hours and it still had not booted up - and now I cannot SSH onto the NAS200 - I keep getting "ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer"

I'm assuming that the key generation probably did not complete. Is there a way I can make it regenerate the SSH keys without SSH ?

I have the following:

2 linksys wet610n
1 Linksys wrt300n
1 Linksys ea6350
1 Linksys wrt54g2
1 Lynksys E4200
5 Linksys camera wvc80n
one usb hard disk
One Hp 1120n

Ideally I would like to create a network at home that would allow me to get the same wired or wireless access anywhere within my home.

I think I should use the 1 Linksys ea6350 as a router, disable dhcp on the wrt300n,wrt54g2 and E4200.
What I do not know is, considering that I just want to have good internet access and setup the...

Hi everybody,

I´m opening this thread to discuss/focus on how to improve NAS200 performance.
Maybe by software, maybe by hardware changes.
I know that there is a lot of people with different knowledge and experience in this forum so maybe after a brainstorm we can come up with good ideas, maybe not but we don´t loose anything by participating and trying right?

So to start with this "brainstorm" here are my first ideas:

  • Hardware: for what I saw in the CPU specs sheet...

NAS200 backup using JAC firmware

I'm trying to make a backup of my NAS200. I've been running Grsync from a Linux box, but it is very slow (over a week to transfer 200G, less than half). No real surprise on speed.

So I thought I'd try backing up from the command line to an external USB drive. Then I could create a good start on the Linux box and use Grsync for updating.

I tried
tar -cvzf /harddisk/volume_6/data/HDD_2_1/directory.gz /harddisk/volume_2/data/directory.

This generated

NAS200 - Problem with "removed drive"

I still use NAS200 because it's simple and does the job.
Few days ago I noticed that I can't turn it on. I removed "Disk 1" and I found that there is something wrong with the disk (white smoke is not a good sign). I got another used HDD. I inserted it in Disk 1 slot and nothing. I format the drive -> nothing. I even deleted everything on drive -> nothing. I used another disk -> nothing.
Than I inserted Disk 2 into slot for Disk 1 and I got the message that Disk 1 is Changed. In information...

I may be one of a few people still running a NAS200, recently I noticed it was running very slow. A little digging revealed it was proxing hundreds of connections per hour, if not more. Upon booting the device would connect to ya.ru and hostby.channelnet.ie . The included toolset on busybox wasn't enough for me to find the actual executable running this stuff. I was unable to see the PIDs of the open ports and all processes seemed "normal."

Some packet sniffing showed even more...
